About the California Capital International Documentary Film Festival

​The California Capital International Documentary Film Festival is Northern California's premier celebration of documentary filmmaking and the only festival in the region dedicated exclusively to documentary films.
Entering its fourth year in 2026, the festival has grown into an important platform for filmmakers from around the world to share powerful stories, diverse perspectives, and compelling real-life experiences through the art of documentary filmmaking. Each year, the festival showcases an outstanding selection of short-form and feature-length documentaries representing a wide range of subjects, cultures, and voices.
Organized by the Rancho Cordova Film Office, the official film office for the City of Rancho Cordova, the festival is proud to be supported in part by a Community Enhancement and Investment Fund Grant from the City of Rancho Cordova. This partnership reflects the city's ongoing commitment to supporting arts, culture, education, and community engagement through film.
Festival screenings take place across multiple venues throughout Rancho Cordova and the surrounding area, including Rancho Cordova City Hall, the Rancho Cordova Youth Center, and Fat Elephant Theater in Historic Folsom. Together, these venues provide audiences with a welcoming and intimate environment to experience some of the finest documentary films from around the globe.
Since its inception, the California Capital International Documentary Film Festival has experienced steady growth in attendance, filmmaker participation, and international recognition.
